Truitt and White Lumber & Hardware

We went to Truitt and White to look at Marvin windows because we need to replace the windows on our remote mountain cabin. Even though we can't buy the windows from them which they knew, the staff was incredibly generous with their time! Jeff Van Horne spent a lot of time showing us what all the features our installer was recommending looked like and what all the options were. He even had some cost saving suggestions that we will be looking into. In addition, they let us meet around a table for about an hour to go over the cost estimate that we had and figure out which estimate correlated with which window and whether the recommended window operation was what we wanted--even offered us refreshments. Truitt and White has always been our (and our contractor's) go to, but given this incredibly helpful welcome we won't look elsewhere.

Don't expect them to return emails or keep you updated as to the status of your order. I've tried ordering through two different representatives here and both had just the worst customer service. Please direct message me for PAGES of examples.

I would avoid this company at all costs unless you want a nightmare and months of delays that are not even communicated to you until you call them.

The recent December 2022 rain storm blew a few of the decorative trim pieces off my home. After several phone calls to lumber companies in my immediate area, I was referred to Truitt & White Lumber Company. I received excellent customer service from Thom who collected the details of what I needed and then from Terrence who reproduced the additional trim pieces exactly from the sample I provided. While waiting I was asked several times by different employees, 'Are you being helped?' My experience was beyond satisfactory. Also happy to support a family-owned business.

I am a subcontractor in Berkeley and have been coming here for years. They always have what I need which is primary, but their staff has the attitude that they're doing you a favor when you ask a questions or need help. And what really bothers me is that I've never gotten a "thank you" from the cashier after I pay for my materials. Maybe I'm too sensitive, but I think the staff could do better.

Dave, Maria and Sam spent the better part of an hour in their store trying to find replacement door latches for my home. They instructed me to disassemble the latches to determine the correct dimensions. In doing so, I was very surprised to find I could fix the ones we had. So they didn't get a sale, but their input led to a happy ending!

My experience with Truitt & White has been horrific. The person I was working with completely disappeared and it was not until I had been sending him emails for 2 months that I was able to get someone on the phone to tell me he was no longer working there. AFTER I paid $1,500 for custom doors. Then the guy who assured me he would take over continued to ghost me via email. I started this process 4 months ago and after I got a call that the doors had arrived learned that they never ordered he hardware I had ordered and received an invoice for a month prior. I do not recommend using them. It has been a total headache.

Their service is great. They responded to quote requests via text so I didn't have to wait on the phone.

We ordered two windows and one patio door from them. We had a lot of questions and they were very helpful, particularly Jeff. We also had some last minute changes due to permitting/logistics issues and they helped us through the whole process and were very patient. Great service - will go with T&W when we get other windows replaced (if they're still willing to put up with us )

All business when you step through the doors. It's best that you know what your looking for when you go because the employees are constantly moving & have little time to give you a lot of attention. This place is busy! It's a great place to get building materials. We bought our base boards & other small construction items there.

I'd like to acknowledge the above and beyond customer service that Joe (Joe Marmo) provided during a recent trip to Truitt & White. Joe was assisting a customer when I initially arrived but acknowledged that he would be able to assist me shortly.
Joe took his time in showing me the necessary equipment I would need to complete my DIY home project. He exhibited professionalism and used his experience to help me save and beat competitors like Home Depot and Lowe's prices. Very much appreciative for your time Mr Marmo. Give this man a raise.
